Client Complain: Problem downloading files via torrents

Few of our clients complained few times in the past, that they face problems while downloading files via torrents. The following may be helpful to resolve the issue:

First of all, from Banglalion's end, torrents or torrent services are free from any restriction/blocking. Its open for everyone.

There may be problems at clients' end that often causes such downloading problem. Kindly  follow a few of these steps to make sure things are okay from your end too:
  1. Which torrent client are you using? Is it the latest version? If not, please update it to the latest stable release and try again.
  2. Try reinstalling the torrent client (clearing your customized torrent client settings, if any) and try again with the default settings.
  3. Does the torrent content that you are trying to download have adequate seeds? If not try with a more common torrent and test if other torrents work or not.
  4. Is there any firewall software installed on your PC (like ZoenAlarm, COMODO Firewall)? If so, is it blocking torrent service/clients by any chance? If so, try disabling Internet Security-like and firewall software (for testing) and check if torrents can be downloaded or not or add an exception for your torrent client from the firewall software.
  5. Try to download the torrents on another PC with your Banglalion modem. If it works on another PC, then your PC may be having a problem. In that case, you need to check for any blocking triggered from your PC.
  6. Lastly, try this on your PC and check if torrents work or not: DNS/IP FLUSH:
    • Go to Start >Run or press "WINDOWS+R" on your Windows machine. Type-in "cmd" (no quotes for any of these) and press ENTER.
    • Type in "ipconfig/flushdns" then press ENTER.
    • Type in "ipconfig/release" then press ENTER.
    • Type in "ipconfig/renew" then press ENTER.
    • Type in "exit" and press ENTER.
This should reset your IP and flush your DNS cache (uncap bandwidth) and leave you with a fresh start.

Moreover, clients can download the portable edition of the torrent client IF he is NOT willing revert to default settings as mentioned in Step 2 & 3 above. In that case, the URL is: http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/utorrent_portable.

How to view your data usage?

Often clients want to know exactly how much data they have consumed over a certain period. This is very handy for post-paid clients with data cap and also for pre-paid users. Here's how you can do that:

1) Log-into Banglalion's Self-Care page. Open your Internet browser (Mozilla Firefox/Internet Explorer/Google Chrome or any other that you generally use) and go to http://www.banglalionwimax.com/home.php and click on the SELF-CARE link near the top of the page. Alternatively, you can directly to http://care.banglalionwimax.com/.

2) At the Banglalion WiMAX Billing & Collection page, enter your Banglalion user ID at the "User Name" field and your account password at the "Password" field. For example, User ID: example.user and Password: 123456.

3) After logging in, click "History" and then click "Session\Calls Report".

4) Now, enter the searching date range ("From Date" and "To Date") for which you wish to view data usage and then click "Submit".

Selecting date range to view data usage

5) The new page will display your data usage for the date range you selected in Step 4. The "Total" balance will show you your consumed data (in kilobytes, KB).
In order to convert the Total usage to megabytes (MB), divide the KB value by 1024. To covert megabytes (MB) to Gigabytes (GB), divide KB value by 1048576 or MB value by 1024.

For example,
2,621,440 KB = 2,621,440/1,024 = 2,560 MB = 2,560/1,024 = 2.5 GB
2,621,440 KB = 2,621,440/1,024 = 2.5 GB
